Work of the Week, Week 10!

ANGER
                                Anger is tanks shooting bombs
Anger is like a cloud up in my head striking, lightning and rain
Anger is fire in your head burning happiness
Anger is a burning fire red and yellow
Fire is a fist pulling out happiness
Teasing is fire... back and forth. Really it should stop.

Work of the Week, Week 8!

We've been continuing to try new websites and activities and came across another great one! Storybird is a site that lets you choose an image to arrange words around, or choose many images to write your own story alongside.

Here is a great example written by Lleyton. He's not quite finished, but we couldn't wait to post it!

Art club work

Coincidentally, Alani (Room 3) had been learning to draw Wolves in Room 4's art club (on each Tuesday during Morning Tea) in weeks 6 and 7. Look at the effort he's put in!

We have been focusing on procedural writing. Here are some instructions written by Kaya. She has practised using Screencastify by recording herself reading through her instructions.

Week 4 work of the week!
We have been learning a lot about our Chromebooks. Last week we learned how to capture what we are doing on our Chromebooks' screen (and add video/audio) using Screencastify, we can use this to refer back to to help each other or to share our learning.
Here is Daniel teaching us how to make a copy of a document.

Work of the week!
To give you an idea of the excellent learning and finished  work in Room 4 we will be choosing a piece of work to post each week!
Please check back and comment on the work we post as we will have put a lot of effort into it.
This week there are a few things to post.

Lleyton's version of the symbol for "Eternity" to celebrate Chinese New Year.

These symbols made a nice addition to our language corner.

We have the opportunity to have some t-shirts printed for the children in our Kea Team. Here are some of the excellent designs so far.

Procedural Writing - Marbled Paper

To help improve our procedural writing skills, we decided to produce some Marbled Paper and then write down all the information someone else would need to produce the same.

Please keep scrolling further for the procedure you will need to follow to produce similar in the classroom or at home. This can be used for the front/back of a card, backing to other art, or simply left as it is to admire.

Here's how ours turned out.

Marbled Paper

Materials/Equipment

  • Shaving foam
  • Ruler
  • Tray
  • Paint or Dye
  • Spoon
  • Paper
  • Protective layer/paper

Method

  1. First spray the shaving foam in the bottom of the tray.
  2. Spread the foam across the base of the tray with a ruler.
  3. Drop different coloured paint or dye on parts of the foam.
  4. Swirl the foam and paint/dye with the end of a spoon.
  5. Place paper over the top and gently press down into foam.
  6. Peel the paper off the foam gently.
  7. Place on a protected surface and use ruler to scrape off excess foam
  8. Lastly, leave your masterpiece to dry.

Thanks for reading, and have fun producing your own!
